Bishop to Tinubu: Speed up Eastern rail project

The Bishop of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion, Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev. Prof. Samuel Ike, has called on President Bola Tinubu to expedite the rehabilitation of the Eastern  rail line, saying the  project remains critical to the economic development of the Southeast and would significantly ease the transportation burden on Nigerians.

The bishop made the appeal on Friday while delivering his Presidential Address at the Third Session of the 19th Synod of the Enugu Diocese, held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Ogbete, Enugu State, under the theme: “Revival Labours: A Prepared Heart to Study, Do and Teach the Word.”

Speaking on the Port Harcourt-Maiduguri rail corridor, Bishop Ike noted that although successive administrations had made commitments towards the project, residents of the Southeast were still waiting for its actualisation.
