July 2025 Edition of some Sermon Excerpts of the Bishop

MUCH LOVE AND GREETINGS FROM YOUR FRIEND AND BISHOP – THE RT. REV’D PROF. SAMUEL O. IKE, the Diocesan, Anglican Diocese of Enugu.

Please read, digest and share.

1. Salvation is not by proxy nor acquired. It is by personal encounter; you are nothing without Christ. Please let Him into your life. (Ephesians 2:8&9)

2. Being a Church man or a Church woman is not a guarantee that Jesus Christ is your personal Lord and Saviour. Be deliberate about making Jesus the Lord over your life. (Romans 10:9&10)

3. The Holy Spirit in your life is a deposit of the evidence of the person of God, the Son, in your life. Friends, all you need in order to receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a correct disposition of the heart. (Ephesians 1:13; Acts 5: 32; Luke 11: 9 – 13)

4. Any time you attend Christian activities and you forget your Bible; you are less than a Christian. It is risky to hide your identity as a Christian. (Luke 9:26; Mark 8:38)

5. Nothing provokes the voice of God amidst His people like music. When you sing, the Lord speaks. Be a true worshipper, Sir/Ma. (2 Kings 3:15)

6. Real anointing and genuine revival are not brought about by the size of the billboard/ picture, but by holy living. Living a holy life pays. (1 Peter 1:15, 16)

7. Child of God, merchandising / selling your gift will only make your life porous to demonic arrows. Please don’t be an accident waiting to happen for putting a price on your gift. (2 Peter 2: 2 – 3)

8. Every handler of music for worship of God must be holy. It is the spirit behind the vessel (music minister) that takes God’s people to His presence. Entertainment is the end point of any Christian music sung in the flesh. (1 Peter 4:10)

9. A wasted life:
You may be the first in the membership list of your Church with so many awards and accolades gathered/ garnered in your name, but if your name is not written in the book of life you have lived a wasted life. (Mark 8:36, 37)

10. When a man’s heart is filled with the mundane things of this world, it is the easiest way to enter into error. Friend, please guard your heart against covetousness. (Hebrews 13:5; 1 Timothy 6:6; Philippians 4:11)

11. Jonah paid his own fare to destruction. Friends, when you work for God with a heart filled with impurity; when you compromise and cook lies against somebody; when you live in secret sins of masturbation, homosexuality, lesbianism, etc, you are paying for your own fare. May our good Lord deliver you from chronic disobedience. (Jonah 1:3)

12. Dear Pastor, God who called you has the capacity to sustain you. The only requirement for enjoying God’s Providence is being faithful in serving Him. He can never be late; faithfulness also entails waiting for Him until He shows up. (Matthew 7:11)

Friends, laziness is a great disease. Hardwork coupled with the enablement of the Holy Spirit distinguishes a man in life and destiny. MAY GRACE TO DO EXPLOITS FOR GOD AND HUMANITY REST UPON YOUR LIFE IN THIS MONTH OF AUGUST. Congratulations.
