REFLECTION: The Nature of True Obedience

Obedience is the act of following a set of commands or guidance or to conform to or comply with given instructions (Merriam Webster Dictionary). The nature of true obedience, therefore, is the characteristics that encompasses pure compliance to divine instructions, which includes our mannerisms in adherence to the “TORAH” (Law of God). Obedience to God means to hear, trust, submit, and surrender to God and his word.

In Exodus 20:1 -20, the prophet enlisted the thought of God for man modules of operation. This is the relationship with God (what God demands of him) as Father and Deity. The second part is man’s relationship with his fellow human being. This will serve as a guide for his thought process and actions.

Jeremiah 38: 1 – 3 bears the account of King Hezekiah that presented his strong reasons to God, and one of the reasons includes working with a perfect heart before the Lord. Romans 8: 14, says “as many as are lead by the Spirit of God are the sons of God”. the Bible encourages us to submit today to the leadership of God’s Spirit. This submission will enhance spirit direction in all our dealing, and carnality in our everyday life will be swallowed by the direction of the blessed Holy Spirit.

God rewards true obedience. Over and over again, we read in the bible that God blesses and rewards obedience Deuteronomy 28: 1 – 14. In Genesis 22: 18, after God has tested the obedience of Abraham , God told Abraham through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed, all because you have obeyed me, by not withholding your only son.

In Luke 11: 28 – Jesus replied, but even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.

The nature of true obedience is to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. Surrender your life to him now if you have not done so. The nature of true obedience also includes an in-dept knowledge of the word of God, constant meditation on the word of God for proper internalization, mingling with the Spirit of God, followed with a sincere heart, full of purity and acted upon by the love of God and humanity not done by flesh or hypocrisy/eye service but genuinely for God secretly and openly for eternal benefits.

In conclusion, hear God’s word, do it, and you will be blessed. Read Deuteronomy 28: 2, 1 Samuel 15: 22, Leviticus 18: 5, Ezekiel 18: 21.
Remain Blessed.
