Anglican Youth Fellowship
Motto: Towards the Perfect Man.
Focus: Worship, Witness, Service, Study and Recreation.
Vision: To be the number one Christian Youth Organization (In the Church of God) and to position her for a greater attainment of our Mission.
Mission: To train and develop youths in the true doctrine of Christianity towards attainment of the standards required of a true follower of Christ, by making themselves useful not only to the church and community in their lives, but also to our nation at large, by respecting Constituted Authorities, striving daily to emulate the ideals of the perfect Man (Jesus Christ).
Early Years:
The Enugu Anglican Youth Fellowship was inaugurated on 14th August, 1953. Prior to the inauguration, in the 1940’s, churches in the Anglican Communion, East of the Niger, started to notice apathy and decline of young people in church activities and attendance. This type of behavior had greatly affected many churches. To prevent this unhealthy and ugly situation from festering, the Diocesan Board (East of the Niger) in 1951, set up a committee to study and make recommendations to it. The chairman and the convener of the committee was Late Rev. D. B. Hall. By then, the late Rev. Walter R. G. Willet who was in charge of All Saints Church G.R.A. Enugu had started organizing young people in churches like St. Peter’s Ogbete, St. Bartholomew Asata, and St. Luke’s Ogui – all in Enugu metropolis.
Leadership:
With the creation of Enugu Diocese in diaspora in 1969, and the enthronement of Rt. Rev. Gideon Nweke Otubelu as the pioneer bishop in 1970, Ven. S.O. Ugwuanyi became the Diocesan Youth Organizer (1970 – 1975). Others that held this position (D.Y.O.) over the years include:
— Ven. Dr. C. A.E. Mbachu (1978)
— Ven K.I. Oduche (1978-1996)
— Ven. Emma Oduzue (1997)
With the arrival of then Rt. Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma as the 2nd bishop of Enugu in 1998, the designation changed to Diocesan Youth Chaplain.

— Ven. Emeka Ezeji (2009-2017)

Activities:
This fellowship has facilitated the emergence of using local instruments and Gospel Band in church services. Testimonies abound of the great singers from St. Luke’s Ogui and St. Barth’s Asata (with great local instrumental praises that is second to none in the early 80’s), which got our churches filled, and not left for just the elderly.
Since the birth of A.Y.F, the Youths have participated actively in Evangelism, Children Ministry, etc. They made sure that Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade existed side by side. The A.Y.F. also provided the personnel that lead these young organizations. In most churches the youths constitute not less than 70% of the choristers.
Achievements:
As a fellowship, goal-oriented projects have been birthed, such as:
== The construction of a twelve (12) bedroom bungalow by St. Peter’s (AYF) Ogbete, to carter for social need of members.
== The modern gigantic “Mama A.U. Eduzor” Youth Resource Center built by St. Bartholomew’s A.Y.F.
== Emmanuel Church AYF Coaster Bus
== Other structures set up at St. Peter’s Ogbete, St Luke’s Ogui and St. Mathew’s Amechi.
