The Good Shepherd Specialist Hospital (TGSSH) is a mission-based Specialist Hospital owned by Diocese of Enugu (Anglican Communion). It is situated in Christ Church Compound, Uwani, Enugu, Nigeria.

TGSSH was established on August 31, 2005, and is a 70-bed Tertiary healthcare facility, providing 24/7 medical services to the Enugu community and its environs.

As the first Anglican mission-owned hospital in Enugu, TGSSH is committed to delivering effective, efficient, and equitable healthcare services to all patients. The Hospital currently has about 26 visiting consultants in various specialties of Medicine and Surgery, and offers a comprehensive range of medical services across various specialties.

Some of them include:

– Medical Services: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Hematology, Endocrinology, Neurology, and Pulmonology.

– Surgical Services: Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Urology, Anesthesia, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Pediatric Surgery, and Plastic Surgery.

– Pediatrics Services: Gastroenterology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Neonatology, and Endocrinology.

– Obstetrics & Gynecology Services: Obstetrics and Gynecology.

– Dental Services: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

– Special Clinical Services: Antenatal Care (ANC), Immunization, HIV/AIDS Services, Tuberculosis treatment, Family Planning, Intensive Care Services, Hepatitis management, Accident and Emergency care, Health Education, and Community Mobilization.

– Smile Train: Offers free surgical repair of cleft lip and palate deformities under Smile Train express.

The hospital is well-equipped with essential facilities, including an onsite fully-functional diagnostic centre, Maternity Care services, and Pharmacy, and offers ambulance services to cater for emergency situations.

TGSSH has received notable support from various organisations to enhance its healthcare delivery. In January 2022, the hospital benefited from the donation of a Digital X-Ray Machine by Roban Stores Limited, commemorating the 65th birthday of the company’s CEO, Sir Rob Onyebuchi Anwatu. The inauguration of this equipment was attended by dignitaries, including Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State and Archbishop Emmanuel O. Chukwuma.

Additionally, in 2022, Caritas Nigeria’s Enugu regional office donated printers and cartridges to 28 healthcare facilities, including TGSSH, to address infrastructural challenges and improve HIV service delivery.

The Hospital’s leadership comprises The Proprietor and the Diocesan, Rt. Rev. Professor Samuel O. Ike, the Diocesan Medical Board Chairman, Sir. Professor B. S. C. Uzochukwu and the Medical Director, Dr. Michael Nwafor.
