The Good Shepherd Micro Finance Bank was licensed in 18^th July 2012 as a unit Microfinance Bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commenced business on 23^rd July 2012.

The Bank was set up by the Anglican Diocese of Enugu with other private investors, in order to buy into the vision of the CBN in poverty alleviation, through providing access to financial and banking services for the less privileged, enhancing savings culture, empowering the economically challenged, improving living standards of the poor, and creating wealth for the poor, small scale business men and women, low income group and small medium enterprises.
